From StefanoS - 28mm Napoleonic French Young Guard Voltigeurs (111 Points)

I am painting like a mad dog. Risking divorce :) just kidding.

Painting so fast that I forgot to take picture of unpainted figures ....

Here please find my 3rd entry for the Challenge :

22 x French Young Guard Voltiguers. 28mm Perry Metal.

Flag by GMB.

From Curt:

Yes, finding the balance between home-life harmony and the absolute necessity to get just one more paint layer done can be a challenge in of itself.
Lovely work Stefano! While I have a reasonable collection of Napoleonics I don't have a single Guard unit, and so when I look at this wonderful unit I think it's high time I fill that gap.

And... congratulations on breaking your 300 point goal! Now you can ease back a bit and coast to the finish line, OR go great guns for glory - just make sure to keep your better-half happy.  :)

From TeemuL - High Elves (20 Points)

First I must apologize for not replying the comments or commenting others' entries lately, I have been rather busy with other hobbies, work and one major hangover lately. I did manage to read this week entries yesterday, but now I'm back on the track - I hope. Thank you for all the comments, they make me happy and push me to get something ready for each deadline! :)

Good news is, that I managed to make my Hot entry ready and paint these four GW LotR High Elves for today. They have the same colors as the captain and standard bearer last week, I find it rather fast to paint. Lots of washes and inks, but they do like very royal, royal enough to fight for the High King.

I added some genuine LotR ruins (painted years ago) on the background to get in to the proper mood. You might notice, that I didn't paint the eyes. The old ones have eyes, but they don't look good. I like these better, there are some shadows on they eyes thanks to the wash and they don't look messy.

From Curt

Other hobbies. Other hobbies?! Pshaw. Get your priorities straight young man. 'There can be only one.' ;)

Great work Teemu. Did you use flesh wash on the armour of these fellows? I quite like the burnished look of the metal.  Nice ruins as well!

From SimonM - The Tenth Planet (20 Points)

Four Mark One Cybermen from "The Tenth Planet"
These four 28mm metal models are based upon the Cybermen from the British Science Fiction television series “Doctor Who” story "The Tenth Planet". This four-part serial opened Season Four back in October 1966 when William Hartnell was the (original) Doctor. They're made by “Black Tree Design” under code DW117 Mk 1 Cyberman.

"Tenth Planet" Cyberman - Washed, dry-brushed and face 'picked out' with black
All of the Cybermen were first undercoated with “Citadel” Abaddon Black and then given a layer of “Vallejo” Gunmetal Grey. Once dry each was washed with the "Citadel" Shade Nuln Oil. The models were then dry-brushed with more “Vallejo” Gunmetal Grey, before receiving a light dry-brush of "Citadel" Mithril Silver. Finally I picked out their cloth faces with "Vallejo" Heavy Bluegrey and their flesh with Heavy Skintone. Their faces were then washed with "Citadel" Nuln Oil. In order to make their hands 'stand out' they were first washed with the last of my Ogryn Flesh and then the fingers were highlighted with more "Vallejo" Heavy Skintone.
The Mark I Cyberman will have a grey-cloth face and human hands
As these original silver giants pre-date my bright silver “Tomb Of The Cybermen” models I thought the darker paint would give them a less sophisticated appearance. However these are rather disappointing models, both in their pose and size. Their television counterparts were enormous bulky behemoths, which towered over the other actors. These rather softly sculpted figures are dissatisfying smaller and sleeker in build than the other "Black Tree Design" Cyberman models I've previously painted.

The Mark I Cyberman is dwarfed when compared to the Mark II version and the Cyberleader

From Curt:

Cool entry Simon! The Cybermen with the flesh hands and 'grey-cloth' faces are particularly creepy.  Well done!

From SeanS - 40mm Survivors (28pts)

Hi All,

This'll be short and sweet. I've rushed these because, frankly, I've been dragging my feet of late.

Sorry about the blurry second picture. I also apparently didn't sit the same distance from the table.

We have here Jethro, who seemed to be living the apocalypse lifestyle before it all went south. Three guesses what his favorite beer is. Hint, Dennis Hopper loved it in Blue Velvet. Next to him is Deputy Hogg. A law man before society collapsed, justice is now delivered at the end of his shotgun. Next we have a member of the Campbell clan. Is it Bruce, Curt? Even he doesn't know, as in his amnesia he's even forgotten his shoes, but not how to kick zombie ass. And lastly we have SWAT officer Figueroa, why Figueroa? Because that's what came to me as I was writing this. After watching the rest of his team get feasted on he's gone solo. You will never see him coming.

The only thing new is that, on the ones with visible eyes, I painted their eyes. I used the 0.1mm pen technique. I'm pleased with the results.

Wish me luck on the hot round, I've got one part primed and the other is in desperate need of pinning and green stuff. Now where did I leave that stupid pin vice?

From Curt:

Nice entry Sean. Who makes these figures? Great job on Jethro's camo and his ball cap. Campbell looks like he should be holding a popped umbrella instead of an axe (which, knowing my luck, is probably what I'd  be armed with in any zombie-apocalypse). I dunno, I don't think I hold out much hope for these guys, except perhaps the mysterious 'Figueroa'.

Good luck on your pinning - I hope to see your 'Hot' submission for Sunday!
